Jakub Jirásek
Biography
After a childhood spent in Switzerland and an adolescence driven by touring with bands around the world, studying in Paris and living in Berlin, Jakub Jirasek is finally back at home in Prague, where he feels he belongs (well, for the moment).
After taking his numerous short films to festivals around the world, and getting a gold at YDA, nominations from BAFTA, Ciclope and others, Jakub is now busy developing his first feature. The script he wrote for that secured him a spot at Cannes Films Talent Unlimited residency, where it received the grand prize by Vivendi/Studio Canal. A great start!
In his work, both big film and advertising, Jakub focuses on cinematic storytelling with strong characters and smart humour.
As a musician himself (his band Cold Cold Nights has released two albums, both of which received wide recognition and award nominations in Czech Republic) he also has a big passion for music videos and creating audiovisual worlds that speak for themselves.
