Ben’s award-winning work is known for its distinctive approach. Delicately crafted visuals born from honest human performances form the heart of his stories. Cinematic in style, his technical eye depicts a beautiful yet highly contemporary aesthetic. Ben’s notable short film projects–––including “Apricot,” “Some Static Started” and “Castor & Pollux”––––often feature his ongoing preoccupation with the themes of identity and memory. “Apricot” earned him the title of Best Narrative film on Vimeo and garnered over a million views; for “Some Static Started” he received a nomination for Best Director by the Australian Director’s Guild; and “Blood Pulls a Gun” premiered at SXSW in competition for the Grand Jury Award, going on to tour the international festival circuit and winning multiple awards. Briand has also won numerous commercial awards including CLIOS, the Silver SHOTS YDA in Cannes, Spikes and the New Director Award at Adfest. Recent branded projects include high profile work for technology company ASUS, starring actress Gal Gadot; Apple's “First Dance,” a celebration of same-sex marriage which was nominated for the Film Lion at Cannes; and his short film “Armour” for The Woolmark Company’s “New World Wool” campaign.
