Ben’s award winning work is often praised for its distinctive approach. He forms delicately crafted visual images whilst eliciting honest human performances from the heart of his stories. His work is cinematic in style and his technical eye always enables a beautiful yet highly contemporary aesthetic. Ben’s personal film projects often feature his ongoing preoccupation with the themes of identity and memory. Most notably “Apricot,” “Some Static Started” and “Castor & Pollux.” “Apricot” earned him the title of Best Narrative film on Vimeo and within the same year, he received a nomination for Best Director by the Australian Director’s Guild for “Some Static Started.” His short film, “Blood Pulls a Gun” premiered at SXSW in competition for the Grand Jury Award, and eventually went on to tour the international festival circuit and pick up multiple awards. Briand has also won numerous commercial awards including CLIOS, the Silver SHOTS YDA in Cannes, Spikes and the New Director Award at Adfest. Recently, his short film for Activia featuring dancer, Ingrid Silva won him Best Direction at the Epica Advertising Awards and took the Grand Prix and Gold for Best Branded Content Film at the European Cristal Advertising Awards. Ben continues to work on unique commercial and film projects and is set to direct his feature film, “Fever Heart” in 2018.
