Luiz Whately developed a taste to tell stories when he was just a child. He used to pick up his father's VHS camera to make stop-motion animations and visual experiments directing his own friends. Later, after a specialization in graphic design, he moved to New York to focus on his passion for cinema. He was one of the founders of the collective “Butchers”, that in a short period of time built an award winning reel, producing films with a strong visual appeal. Amongst his main projects are films for Google, Nike, Under Armour, Rexona, BMW and Smirnoff. Today he is focused on creating films with fresh aesthetics. Luiz has also been awarded prizes at the Cannes Festival, El Ojo de Iberoamerica, Clube de Criação and nominated for the Young Director Award at Cannes.
