Stink Founder and President Daniel Bergmann appointed as chair of the 2019 AICP Show

The AICP has appointed Stink Founder and President Daniel Bergmann as chair of the 2019 AICP Show: The Art & Technique of the American Commercial. In this role, he will oversee the AICP Show Committee, which is responsible for promoting and marketing the AICP Show, as well as facilitating the judging process and selection of judges. “AICP is an organisation that has done so much to bring us together as an industry. As the first continental European to be chair, it is one of my goals to share with the production and film community what I have learned from working globally throughout my career. I hope I can bring something fresh and inspiring from my experience.” This year the competition has launched a category for Best New Director and will be naming a Marketer of the Year.

2018 was a great year for Stink; we signed great talent, launched Stink Rising and a music video department and made some amazing work. But don’t just take our word for it. We’re super proud that Stink’s creativity across offices and directors was recognised globally in the round ups of the best of work of 2018. Among the accolades: Ad Week named Traktor’s Monoprix and Squarehead’s Getty work in the top 25 ads in the world, Pitchfork and Creative Review picked Salomon Ligthelm’s video for Prince among the best promos of the year and Contagious cited Stink Studio’s work for Godiva as one of the most pioneering campaigns of 2018. That’s on top of Campaign’s recognition for Stink London in their annual Hot List. A huge thank you to to everyone for making it such a memorable year - we can't wait to see what 2019 brings!

Stink continues to broaden its eclectic roster with latest signing, Emmy-nominated London based animation studio, Golden Wolf. With work that lives in the space between irreverent humour, intensely dynamic action and psychedelia, their unique and youthful perspective has been applied to global commercial campaigns, opening titles, music videos, AR filters, VR experiences and social media campaigns. Since opening their doors in 2013, they’ve seen some great success with projects for major brands such as Nike, Disney, PlayStation and Coke. Recent projects include the music video for Marshmello’s ‘Fly’, featuring Disney’s DuckTales, which premiered at the Radio Disney Music Awards in Hollywood, reaching over 2 million views on YouTube. They also created a vertical film for Instagram to coincide with the launch of their new Instagram TV feature (IGTV). Joining the Stink roster will enable them to expand their horizons both in their native UK and Europe.

Stink celebrates Cannes 2018 performance

Stink Films Sao Paulo is celebrating being one of the most awarded Brazilian production companies at this year’s Cannes Lions. The company won the region’s only gold in film and only silver in film craft for a total of five lions for its Squarehead directed work for Getty Images ‘Endless Stories’. The film for AlmapBBDO tells the stories behind the “Fight of the Century”, in which Muhammad Ali faced down Joe Frazier on March 8th, 1971. Created entirely from Getty’s editorial archive, it reveals the likes of Frank Sinatra becoming a photographer for the night and drug kingpin Frank Lucas being recognised and arrested shortly after. Stink also celebrated winning silver in Social & Influencer for Monoprix ‘Worst Song in the World’ directed by Traktor, silver and bronze in Direct for Yoox ‘The Most Exclusive Collection’ and bronze in Design for Google ‘Lynching in America’.

Excited to announce the addition of award-winning Chinese director Law Chen to the Shanghai roster. With a culturally and creatively diverse background, Law is a filmmaker who defies categorisation. Born in the US to Chinese immigrants, moving back to Beijing when he was nine, his route to directing was also unusual, learning his craft in house at BBDO New York.

We’re thrilled that Tom Green’s powerful film for Oxfam and Don’t Panic, ‘The Heist No One is Talking About’, is already making a big impression at this year’s awards shows. At Creative Circle, we took home three Golds, two Silvers and a Bronze including wins for Direction and Cinematography. The work also bagged Gold for Best Not-for-Profit/Giving Back and Silver for Best Post Production at Campaign’s Brand Film Festival. There was yet more success at D&AD, where Oxfam picked up two pencils for Direction and Editing for Film Advertising, Keith McCarthy’s Nike ‘Play Less Nice’ won a pencil for Editing for Film Advertising, while Wilkins & Maguire celebrated a Graphite pencil for ‘Goodluck’, part of the Guinness 'Made of Black’ series. Fingers crossed for the British Arrows where Oxfam has seven more nominations and New York Festivals where the film is a finalist in Film Craft!
